He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.\u201d<\/h1>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Life is holy and complex, as it is mundane and relentless.\u00a0 The clock is a tyrant, and relationships are everything.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, friends, today&#8217;s picture is of the most recent issue of OHbaby! magazine, which holds two articles that I am proud to have written.\u00a0 One is about Respect, the other about toddler development.\u00a0 Which are a couple of my favourite subjects.<\/p>\n<p>Other links now:<\/p>\n<p>Here is a lil something from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/what-do-babies-really-know\/\">Scientific American, about what babies know<\/a>, and here is something for all the <a href=\"http:\/\/thichnhathanhfoundation.org\/blog\/2018\/6\/11\/single-parenting-as-a-dharma-door\">solo parents out there: a Buddhist perspective<\/a> on the teachings available just for you.\u00a0 \u00a0Meanwhile, this gift is for <a href=\"https:\/\/greatergood.berkeley.edu\/article\/item\/self_compassion_for_parents\">all parents of every ilk &#8230; it&#8217;s about self-compassion<\/a>.\u00a0 Yikes.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d never seen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B7kBgaZLHaA\">this particular Dan Siegel talk<\/a> till my gal <a href=\"https:\/\/penniebrownlee.weebly.com\/\">Pennie Brownlee<\/a> sent me the link earlier in the week &#8230; I am grateful!\u00a0 (You will be too) &#8230; and it is kinda cool how a seemingly unrelated link from a seemingly unrelated source (my dear friend and superstar of academic pediatrics, sharing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wcvFZf2fe9c\">this piece about Ubuntu<\/a>) is so in harmony it&#8217;s not even funny.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no &#8220;me&#8221;, y&#8217;all.<br \/>\nOr even a y&#8217;all, y&#8217;all.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s all about &#8220;we&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow the coincidence of receiving both those links on the same day feels like confirmation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tacinterconnections.com\/index.php\/allnews\/researchsurveys\/2940-as-more-countries-ban-ipads-and-mobile-phones-from-the-classroom-could-wifi-be-giving-our-children-cancer-prof-anthony-miller-wants-wifi-out-of-schools\">Less perky is this link<\/a>, shared by another wise woman.\u00a0 Electrosmog?\u00a0 Jeez Louise.\u00a0 Imma learn more about that.\u00a0 You know I&#8217;d be happy to have waaaaaaaaaay <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/commentary\/361231\/who-needs-computers-in-the-classroom-not-students\">less tech in schools<\/a>, and I certainly think that we oughta teach our young &#8216;uns to think more critically about the tech they&#8217;re using.\u00a0 For example &#8211; how do we <a href=\"https:\/\/theoutline.com\/post\/3448\/no-one-is-teaching-kids-how-to-spot-fake-news\">teach children to examine the news for potential biases?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Take a <a href=\"http:\/\/commercialfreechildhood.org\/blog\/screen-free-week-2018-was-bigger-and-better-ever?eType=EmailBlastContent&amp;eId=8bf8fb10-0ca4-4a98-952f-d4b3f1b53340\">break from the screens<\/a>, homies.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theoutline.com\/post\/3448\/no-one-is-teaching-kids-how-to-spot-fake-news\">\u00a0<\/a>And consider <a href=\"http:\/\/humanetech.com\/\">different ways of using tech &#8211; LOVE the work of Tristan Harris and chums<\/a>, and here is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.garrisoninstitute.org\/what-were-working-on\/interfaces-of-compassion\/\">another effort to rejig the current scene<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, a cool fact I did not know about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mothering.com\/articles\/breast-milk-composition-changes-with-mothers-circadian-rhythm\/\">breast milk, specifically how it changes along with a mother&#8217;s circadian rhythm<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not enough o&#8217;s in cool, baby.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kia Ora e hoa ma, Hello friends.
