poetry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kia Ora ladies and gentlegeeks,<\/p>\n<p>Warm soup and winter sunshine.\u00a0 What a joy it is to be alive when you&#8217;re fortunate in the birth lottery (yay, NZ in the 70&#8217;s!\u00a0 Yay!\u00a0 Thanks Papatuanuku!) but jeepers, mate, there is <a href=\"www.womensrefugeecommission.org\/images\/zdocs\/five-ways-trump-is-devastating-families.pdf\">lameness and horror a-plenty<\/a>.\u00a0 I was just crapping on to my big brother over coffee a few days back about how if we could just ask all scenarios an overarching question (be the scenario designing a town hall, or prioritising health funding, or <a href=\"https:\/\/developingchild.harvard.edu\/about\/press\/shonkoff-statement-separating-families\/\">creating immigration policy<\/a>) all would shift.<\/p>\n<p>The question:<br \/>\n<strong>What would this mean for babies?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whatever it is.\u00a0 Going for a walk.\u00a0 Approving an irrigation scheme.\u00a0 Consent processes and elected officials would all have to prove how their decisions impact babies.\u00a0 Most parents are pretty good at considering how their decisions impact their own babies (&#8220;if we stay for dinner, what does that mean for our bedtime routine?&#8221;), so we must now all consciously expand to our infuse all our decisions, large and small, with babyhood.<\/p>\n<p>Because if it&#8217;s good for babies, it&#8217;s good for everyone (friends!\u00a0 You know why!\u00a0 Because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centreforattachment.com\/index.php\/essential-information\/4-the-basics-of-attachment\">attachment<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/developingchild.harvard.edu\/science\/key-concepts\/brain-architecture\/\">neurobiology<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5145769\/\">human potential<\/a>.\u00a0 Because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yoursunshine.org\/overstimulated-and-overwhelmed-sensory-overload-anxiety-and-depression\/\">overstimulation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OFn0AX4oZsc\">pace<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/dawn-gluskin\/life-lessons_b_5537105.html\">wellbeing<\/a>.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why!<\/p>\n<p>The only group I can think of who will suffer if we truly prioritise infant wellbeing are those with financial interests in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commercialfreechildhood.org\/action\/your-baby-still-cant-read\">selling nonsense to babies&#8217;
